What does my dragon claw clutching a crystal orb necklace represent?

I just got a necklace with a dragon claw clutching a turquoise crystal orb, and I was wondering what it means, or what it represents. I bought at a sort of witch-y store place, and the only explanation the person gave was that the claw “holds things”, which didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Can anyone explain?

Supposedly Dragons had jewels or pearls under their skin or gills- I am trying to remember this book from a long time ago- but if you made a necklace out of the claw and a pearl it warded off evil by taking you off the radar so to speak. They can’t attack if they can’t see you.
